The Little Bakery That Could!
Sweet Surrender has been a local treasure since the early ‘80’s. Originally christened as a small fine chocolate shoppe, visitors now enjoy over 5,000 square feet of unique, colorful happiness. Customers drop in for the delicious baked goods, light, whimsical gifts, fashion-forward boutique items for women and baby and home and holiday décor. Sweet Surrender attracted national attention in 2011 when Giada De Laurentiis fell in love with the Matterhorn Cake. It went on to be featured on The Food Network’s “The Best Thing I Ever Ate.” In 2013, it was the Lemon White Chocolate that caught the tastebuds of the Creative Director at “O, The Oprah Magazine,” again, putting Bakersfield in the national spotlight.
